Merry Christmas for the Red Army

The Red Army will head into the Christmas break on a winning note after going into Sundre and pouncing on the Sabres. The Sabres goalie (with his 1980's style) made some fine saves, but couldn't keep the score from being about 15-3. The RA iced two forward lines and 5 defense. The youngest forward line (Harmattan line - James and John Lefebvre and Bret Filmore) was flying all night, getting about 75 % of the teams goals. Calvin Mix had a hot first period, marking up three tallies in about 10 minutes. Tyler Brooks says that he was just trying to build up the other goalie by shooting the puck at his logo or pads all night. The RA defense was solid all game, with strong performances from wylie veterans Gord, Mark, and Mike, and young up and comers Jeff and Hoppe (first name?). Calvin may have slid off his goal scoring pace when he noticed Coach, GM, Car starter Steve Filmore on the phone for about 20 minutes in the second period. There were rumours of a deal being done at the time, which could have thrown him off his game. Red Army's next game goes Sunday, January 4th against the Brewers of Didsbury.

High scoring night in Alberta Dec. 16/08

The Red Army took to the ice for yet another high scoring game, on a night when the other two NHL teams of Alberta were involved in high scoring affairs as well. However, the Red Army ended up losing or winning by a score of 15-14, where as the Oilers lost 9-2 and the Flames won 6-3. Hoppe came out strong early in each period. He was about +10 on his first shifts of each period combined. Tyler and Calvin chipped in with a couple of goals. Gord suffered from back and shoulder pain much of the game, but managed to control the puck very well in almost all situations. Oh, the Red Army must of lost because they pulled the goalie with 1:30 to go in the game and didn't score by the end of the game. Overall, the RA faired quite well considering they were without regulars Jay, Brian, Mark, and Casey for this one. The Red Army play again on Sunday night in Sundre. One of Tyler's students' dad plays on the Sundre team and is already threatening to beat Tyler up as a result of his daughters report card.

Sunday Night Movie - Bambi - Featuring Tyler Brooks

Sunday, December 14th, had the Red Army up against the powerful, overmanned machine in the powder blue jerseys called the Demons. Tyler put on his new skates and made his best impression of bambi. After frantically trying to sharpen his skates with a stone for 10 miunutes, he called it a night at the 10 minute mark of the 1st period. From what he could tell, the game was a close one as he left with 2 minutes left in the first. Embarrassed, he threw the key into the bench and walked over to talk with reporters. He had this to say, "I knew I shouldn't have trusted the girl at the Canadian Tire till, when she told me those skates were pre-sharpened. I'm going to come back stronger than ever on Tuesday night, if the team lets me! Please, please, coaches Mike and Steve, don't cut me for making this boneheaded error." The Red Army's next game goes Tuesday night in Didsbury. I promise to have a more thorough game report, as I think I should be there for the whole game.
